Can I be a member of the Gibson club :hyper:
I have got a 2009 SG faded cherry re-issue, it is a brilliant bass, lovely warm tone and superb action, nice and light, very comfortable to play, I also have a MIM fender Precision but the SG feels so much better being not far half of the size and short scale .
I like the faded finish, have had nice glossy guitars in the past and always worried about scratching them but with this SG that has gone away :D
Long live Gibson basses :bassist:

That pic was a bit small, try this .
One of the things I like about my SG is the finish, when I first got it, it was very dull matt with the faded finish but after a lot of use and polishing is starting to get a nice shine to it, not like a full nitro-cellulose high gloss but nice all the same, in a vintage way, I think thats an attractive feature of faded finishes whereas glossy ones need care to keep them nice, I had two Les Paul guitars and they were a nightmare, had to be careful going from hot to cold temps, what polish to use, had to cover the rubber on my stands LOL
I thoroughly recommend the SG faded bass :D

Looks like I need to sort out my pic re-sizing LOL

Hi, I just recently been able to spot a Gibson RD standard from Ebay. Its currently undergoing some rework. Will be back home next week. So I want to be in.:hyper:

Hi, thanks, indeed came in good shape, frets have been removed some time ago, so re-fretting is neccessary, mini switch was installed to put PU in serial or paralell mode. I did remove this thingy, wired to the original. I did a complete clean up, and overall inspection of the beauty. Really turns out to be in excellent shape, beside, what I mention.
I am ready to give a tryout with the hipshot super tone, once it get back to me.

Got it back today from my favourite luthier. I must admit, it turns out to be a very nice fretjob along with refinish of the fretboard. It plays absolutely well, feels very nice, tons of tone. So for the moment I did decide, not to install the Hipshot bridge, as I will like to fool around with it first (will do it later sometime). Some people complain about the output of the PU to be low, I really cannot state this. The tone is loud and clear with looong sustain.
I digged another thing, I did had a Hipshot D-Tuner laying around (BT-1), it is not possible to install due to 2+2 alignment of tuners and the size of the peghead. The Hipshot BT-1 thingy is way too big (although exact replacement for Schaller BM).
But I really fell in love with that bass.

Cool, let us know how it compares to the Gibson bridge! I'm more of a fan of the original equipment on these basses, but I have some luthier's plans up my sleeve and I've been thinking about using Supertone bridges for my design.
