Gibson EB-1 bass - Help!

I need some help knowing a bit more about this bass. I know it is a Gibson EB1, probably late 60's or early 70's?

It was inherited by my brother in law (non-musician) - but the looks of it it looks like someone refinished the body and updated the electronics

anyone have a guess as to the value?

Looks like a refinish with a pickup swap as well. That pickup suggests Guild more than it does Gibson.

Yeah, the pickup looks like a the one Guild used in the later JetStar hollow bodies and not the mudbucker that should be there. It appears to at least have had additional clear sprayed on, possibly a complete refinish.

A fairly rare bass in an interesting shape. Tough to price as well.

The pickup is a Guild one - I have two of those in my JS-2 - but am not sure whether the body was routed for it or not, it may be possible that one could swing the Sidewinder/Mudbucker back in without the traces of a previous mod showing. It's a shame that the pots were moved...

As I see it now, this bass could likely sell at around $2K, but it might take some time.

Those Dan Armstrong Plexi basses are pretty cool. Do you know if he has any of the other pickup modules? They slide out the bass side where that notch is.

Re: EB-1. Perfect for a "Mountain" tribute project! Pickup was swapped-out for a really good reason. Appears addt'l pots / controls were added, removed, and plugged.

Tuners on the EB-1 are not stock, but probably better than the originals. Unfortunately the EB is a refin with non-original hardware, so that hurts the value.

The Dan Armstrong is cool, but very heavy, which makes them uncomfortable to play, but it’s very collectible.

I would agree value with the refin and mods around 2k. It's a 69-70 the bridge and tuners are stock. Pickup is a 70s Guild.

First thing. Is this the Reissue or the original run? With the mods I doubt it's a collectors piece, but regardless it's a cool bass. Congrats.

It's a reissue, '69 or so. The originals had the mudbucker right at the end of the neck, and no crown inlay on the headstock.

Felix Pappalardi got a great sound with one, he made it part of his sound, dirty. They reissued them because of him. Yes, they did.

I’m no expert, but I believe so. A friend’s dad had an old Epi reissue, and it had both of those features.
The end pin is kinda neat, but the painted on F holes just seem so tacky to me.
