Not amazing pictures but here's my Grabber.

Does anyone know about dating these? I think mines a 74 but I'd like to know for sure.

serial numbers on the back of the headstock. If it is a later one, the 1st and 5th digits of the serial number are the year...if it is older than say 77, you should find only a 6 digit number and can be referenced through gibson.com
there is also a pencil date written on the heel of the neck and you can check pot dates to be clear...

Well just as I thought, mine seems to be a '74 or '75 but I can't find how to narrow it down any further.

Yep, have not seen it for 22 years....it came up here from a cool dude who said that i could buy it back. I got the pics and knew it was the one i used to have....it will be back here soon!!!!

Here is my 1978 Grabber:

Pictures are not the best, but I'll be taking new ones soon. I am the original and only owner of this bass, and it was the first "name brand" instrument I ever owned

this is my 78 Grabber..

the neck says "G-III" on the heel, but the guard/electronics are Grabber..

the line on the forearm side of the body is were someone cut a large piece off the body.. then glued it back on with epoxy.. the bridge is from a Spector NSX.. at some point i'm going to refinish it, replace the bridge with something much lighter, probably a hipshot or a badass.. and replace the tuners with Hipshots..

i like the way it sounds..

i'm most likely going to paint it white, or silverburst..

My G-3 was stolen from my apartment in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada in 1979. Anybody seen it?
Oh yeah, it was black with a maple neck. I still miss it!
