You can try and find another 4 position rotary switch if you want it all original. or you can get a 5 position and rewire everything like the vintage ones, plus adding the neck pup solo.

Briefly played the new G3 today. Very nice. I was surprised at the delicate fiber flat work on the pups. Could use covers I think. I like the headstock on my 75 better: longer & tuners are horizontal instead of following the head angle. They were quite busy and I had to leave so I didn't get it plugged in so I just played it unplugged. If felt really nice. Flat black (charcoal?) body and the joinery with the neck was wonderfully executed. Beautiful bass. Good thing I played unplugged otherwise the wife would be castrating me by now.

No need for a number (I'm not into that clubthingy), but here is a '74 Ripper that I've modded with the 6-way rotary of the L6S guitar, thus giving me the neck-pickup solo (that's what you're hearing) and both pickups series out of phase. That thuddy neckpickup alone was worth the modification, and the electronics had to be tampered with anyhow, since the bass stood in a moist environment, and the pots and choke were all corroded beyond repair.

I'm using GHS Boomers on my fretted Ripper, and TI Jazz Flats on the fretless one. The fretless seems to like the low tension of the TI, I'm getting used to the feel. The Boomers are a funny choice for me, not usually a fan, but for some reason they are giving me something I really like on the Ripper. Though I could see Sunbeams as being a great choice too.

Played my fretless last night on a honky tonk/Texas swing gig and it kicked ass for simulating a big fat upright tone. I have MJ at the Duncan custom shop working on a set of pickups for my 77 fretted. Because of the different mounting system, I took the old pickups out and sent her the covers, they don't have the casings for the ones with the three-point mount.

Count me in. Got this baby for Christmas and it ROCKS! :bassist: More pics soon to come after I find time to finish modding it and putting it all together.

Sorry, correction: LIGHT modding. In other words, Schaller tuners, brass nut, Sandberg bridge, sanded/oiled neck back (Ernie Ball style), and eventually an Jascar EVO refret once the old frets are worn down..

I played the bass a few times live and I literally had to tune between every song. :eek: So I bought some replacement tuners from Schaller since I've read that the holes line up with the originals. Problem now is that the new tuning keys are too long and now the bass won't fit the original case! :hmm:

Now I'm in search for a new case. I've searched and read that it's pretty hard to find an aftermarket case for the Grabber. But is it true that the Grabber will fit in a Hiscox STD EPS case?
