Gibson Midtown Club.

Yes, it is here and it makes a hell of a difference. The EB-BS is a big Singlecoil and therefore has a wide frequency response and gives a nice little grind to the sound.
I like it a lot. It still is a hot pickup, but the honkyness of the original is gone. Now the bass does actually have highs.

I made some more mods as I already had to do some soldering. I changed the toggle for a burns 500k blend which works quiete well. Since it is a passive blend, the effective blend is a little limited, but it gives me at least more than the two sounds that were there before. I also put on a hipshot bridge. Now it all looks like that:

I'd be very curious as to what this pickup sounds like. If you can post sound clips it would be much appreciated. I almost got this instead of the Novak Fatbucker.

I will see if I get to that on the weekend or next week. Since the bass still has a very high output, I hope that my interface can deal with the signal.

Being a singlecoil, the EB-BS sounds a lot like a Jazz Bass neck pickup on steroids. Together with the hipshot bridge, the bass ended up a lot brighter than before.

I really recommend the change from the toggle to a blend poti like the Bourns 182. (http://www.bourns.com/data/global/pdfs/Bourns_PDB182_Blend-Balance_Guitar_Pots_AppNote.pdf)

That made the bass a lot more versatile.

The toggle is my final thing to deal with. Will look into the Bourns.

I just ordered one of these along with a Novak EB bridge replacement. I like the bass and how it sounds unplugged but never dug the pickups. Can't wait to make the change.

I may at long last be joining the Midtown Club. I've been talking with my local shop, and they can still get a hold of some 2013 Midtown Standards. If I can just move some of my gear that I have for sale I can make this happen! But the hollowbody fan in me is wondering if I would be best served to have both the Jack Casady AND the Midtown. Decisions, decisions...

There's one particular spec regarding the 2013 and earlier Midtown basses that I've been wondering about. And I'm surprised that I didn't see anything about this sooner. That being that the fingerboard on those Midtowns are actually roasted maple, and not rosewood. Did I just read an incorrect spec sheet somewhere, or is that a legit spec for the Midtown standard basses?

Wonder no more, the answer is yes. I have both and like them for diferent reasons.
