I have that same bass but mine is stock so I can’t comment on the aftermarket pickup, but can tell you those holes are aftermarket as well. They didn’t have a factory thumb rest. Here’s a photo of mine from Sweetwater when I bought it back in 2013:

I've never tried one but most people usually say it's a lot more articulate than a stock original Humbucker but I only have experience with original Gibson basses so can't comment on the difference between a Midtown neck pickup and a Di Marzio, for what it's worth, people that use them usually like them.
Has anyone here had luck with adding a pickguard to their Midtown bass? Would love to see the end result!

Yessir. Found this beauty and thought I’d give a go. Only played it for a few minutes, but it plays really nice and sounds great! Ive been trying to find examples of the bullion gold one online, including here on TB, but examples seem few and far in between. A great find and glad to have it in the quiver!

Facts! I have three Gibsons and they could not be more different.
After spending some time playing this bass, it has become apparent that the "Curtis Novak" EB neck pickup is far to muddy for my taste. I had second thoughts of buying a bass that had been modified .......... I'm an idiot, trust me, it will NEVER happen again.
So now I need to find what the part number is for the OEM neck pickup and try to find a used one. Gibson is ZERO help with part numbers.
I've been told that it is the same one used in the SG Standard bass.
Then again, the internet tells you a lot of things ......
Would anyone be gracious enough to pull a cover off and give me a part number or picture of the "Gibson" neck pickup? Mine is a 2013 model but at this point any year Midtown would do. I doubt they changed anything ........

It's the same pickup, the one in your pictures is just the newer version given the date. Impedance is correct, mine was about 9.3 when last measured. You could use either of them.
