The Midtown and JC are similar. But the discount pricing on the Midtown ... hard to pass.
I've heard too that the Midtown is being discontinued.
I had the same problem, I put some black electrical tape on the underside of the pickup cover so that the pickup won't touch the metal. I think what happened with mine is that the whole bass would start to vibrate and the pickup and cover would make a rattling sound which I found very annoying. Tape got rid of the problem. Why don't you give it a try.
Regards,
Ed
The new Midtown Signature bass looks even better to me than the standard, a lot more Jack Casady model looking but with the Midtown construction and pickups. It looks like a winner to me.
I'd love to try one against my Epi Casady.
I tried a Midtown yesterday and prefer my Casady in every aspect, for the record.
Glad to hear that another JC bass player tried the Midtown. Actually, I think the JC is great, and I prefer the color of my neck and back over the gold version of the Midtown Signature.
Hello All,
New to TalkBass. I am considering the above strings for my Midtown.
Since they are of such heavy gauge, I was wondering if there are any tension issues with the neck and such?
I am thinking that the bass has such a sturdy neck (and truss, I assume), it wouldn't be an issue. But I wanted to see if anyone has tried such and get their input.
Cheers!
(I'll submit a pic later to get a number...)
I would not put those strings on any bass with a set neck. If you like La Bellas, try the 760FL set.
Thanks much for the input!
What about the GHS Precision Flats (45-105)? Still too heavy?
I'm looking for dark, fundamental tones--including G-string notes.
Other ideas?
