I had an SG RI (thats what they're called IIRC) in white to match my 64 SG guitar. I promptly returned it a week later as even with a set up it didn't sound good and it sounds nothing like the EB series basses of yore!
Problems included: Rough pickup routes, minor finish blems, crackling pots, and poor fretwork
Issues with it sonically was that it sounded nothing like any of the other EB series basses I've played in the past (never owned, but a friend of mine owns an EB3, EB3L, and EB2, and a really old violin shaped one) which would be fine, but it doesn't have a modern tone either. Its not classic, its not new, its just crap. It doesn't cut, nor does it rumble.
I miss anything?
Oh yeah, this was when the SG basses were under $1000 that I bought it, and I never got why they called it the SG RI. It was never called the SG series basses (EB!) and saying that they only called it the SG series for better market visibility (a lot more people know what a Gibson SG is compared to those how know what an EB is) but they can't honestly call it a reissue as its nothing like any of the previous generations of the EB series.
And they still haven't fixed that craptacular bridge.
