Are you thinking of the original G3?
That model was discontinued in the early 1980s.
They released a tribute model which wasn't exactly the same.
That was two or three years ago. It's been discontinued too.
You can find the second one most of the time on Ebay.
The first version only pops up occasionally and some times with the mojo you'd expect from a 30-40 year old instrument.
No, you probably can't find either for your price range.

You can find the satin black G-3 used and NOS/demo for around $700. I never see the bursts around anymore.
