GIG+AMP CHOICE=FAIL

Last night the we played a 20 band+ outdoor gig with minimal PA.


The show was very well organized and ran almost to pre planned schedule (20 minute rain delay).

I took the easy way out by bringing my Nemesis NC-200 (Made 1997). I have big cabs.. I have huge cabs... I have many big huge cabs. Never bringing a small amp again unless Doctor's orders..

I could not get the impact I was looking for with my sound.

Look, I know it's been said before, it's okay to rely on PA support... But not when your guitar player brought two half stacks and gave instructions to the sound man!

So lesson learned, Go big or go home, You buy 'em You bring 'em, yadda yadda yadda.

Outdoor gigs, if you got 'em, bring 'em. My 810 cab and 118 cab only get used for these type of gigs. Big stages with no walls seem to adapt better to big cabs, and I've yet to hear a stage monitor that I'm happy hearing my bass through.

Bongolation- I know, I failed. Should have known better.. At least my keyboard came through LOUD and CLEAR!

the problem was actually minimal pa. but so be it. yeah, if you need stage volume and your guitarist ends up being a douche, you need the big guns. or you need to work with another guitarist.

but i've played huge outdoor gigs with a b-15 (thousands of people in attendance), and as long as there's decent pa, it's fine.

That's it, cut to the chase. If it isn't stage volume, it'll be something else.

Hiding behind a big amp is just evading the issue, which is a person.

JimmyM- Minimal PA, yeah, I knew that going in.. I was being the weak link. Guitarist douche, Well maybe.. but I should have known better that's why I FAILED!

Bongolation- You do have a point. The stage was not designed for us to put my amp behind our drummer.. so I would've been hiding behind my amp anyway.

D.M.N.- Really appreciated your 2000s 2X15 build. Apparently "Insert Famous Guitarist" liked to loiter behind his amp in the beginning as well!
