Gig bags. Which brand do you use?

My favorite is the Access Stage 5. It has the best protection of the several bags I’ve tried and also has quite a bit of useful storage. The drawbacks are that it’s kind of heavy for a gig bag and it’s really expensive. But I wish they made a dual bass version and would have been willing to pay the premium price if one existed.

I also like the Reunion Blues Continental Voyager. I preferred the old Continental, but the Continental Voyager is still a really nice bag. My second favorite after the Stage 5.

I almost bought the RB dual bass bag but went cheaper and bought the Gator ProGo dual. I only got to use it a few times before the pandemic shut down my band but it’s well padded and roomy. But it’s also a pretty bulky bag, more so than the Mono M80 dual that I tried.

The ProTec Contego is a relatively inexpensive, no frills version of a well built bag that protects well. Not a lot of storage space, though.

I had a Mono M80 single and dual. They’re pretty good also but I like others better. I still have the dual as a backup to my Gator ProGo dual but I eventually sold the single.

I admit up front that I haven't researched this issue very thoroughly. I use the Kiesel soft cases: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]. Basically the same functionality as a gig bag, if a tad heavier, but the rigid sides give a bit more solidity and protection than the common or garden gig bags I've encountered.

The big fat logo might be a problem for some (many?). None of my basses are Kiesels any more. I just like these soft cases.

My Mono Vertigo is amazing. Really great bag, lightweight and provides lots of protection.

Had a Reunion Blues Continental and that bag was sick, be it a bit heavy.

Traded it straight up for a Gator Pro double, and that’s a nice bag for carrying 2.

All 3 bags I was very happy with.

All worthy of my Sadowsky and Fender.

Gator 4G is my preferred—cheap and padded well enough for my needs. I'm not gigging so it's just to go to and from lessons and I don't own any really expensive basses (all $900 or less). If I owned something more expensive and I was gigging, I'd get a hard case.

Just picked up this Road Runner Avenue Series gig bag. Serves my purpose just fine.

Mono sleeve. The accessory pouch is SO UNBELIEVABLY STUPIDLY DESIGNED. I HATE HATE HATE HATE IT. But all the other features (doesn't cost double like the M80 does, I can trash it around and nothing happens to my bass) make it a good piece of gear.

I use the older style Reunion Blues Continental gig bag, AWESOME case!!!!
I also use the Reunion Blues Aero Bass Case, very nice as well!!!!

I use a Gator Pro-Go because I got it for $100 about 5 years ago. I'm not sure I would spend twice that today on one. Instead, I would get the Roadrunner Highway Premium case. I got one for an acoustic guitar last year and it's every bit as durable as my Gator. They're on sale regularly too.

When I bought my Sadowsky bass, the zipper on my bag fell apart within the first 6 months. I’m sure it was a freak incident, and the bags are fine. But! I ordered a Mono Vertigo to replace it, and it’s been great for the last few years.

the zipper on my Portabag took a dump also. I had it repaired by an upholsterer who specializes in heavy duty fabrics, zippers and auto seats. It lasted for a short while. While I liked the case a lot for its ergonomics and storage capacity, its complicated layering of parts made it very difficult to repair, and it didnt last.

Using a Gruv Gear Sliver, my first and last high end bag. Killer bag for sure but honestly, I just don’t need that level of protection.

One other feature I really like is the relatively minimal storage pocket size, but I'd be fine with no storage capacity at all for anything but the bass actually.

That’s funny: I‘ve used a Mono M80 for as long as I can remember (even for expensive hollow body guitars) and one of the things I love about it, besides the excellent protection and comfort, is the large storage space!

No doubt, and since I'm no longer gigging how much storage room the bag takes up or doesn't is even more important to me now. My ideal would now include no straps of any kind and no storage pocket at all.

I got a slightly used Warwick Rockbag dual bag that I've been using for the past few gigs and I like it. It's got plenty of padding, room for 2 full scale basses, and useful, roomy compartments. It's not light, but it's a few lb lighter than my two lightest bags/cases. It has dual straps with zippered storage if you don't use them (I don't).

I've been musing about the merits of a recent score. A bag for the smaller variety of guitar — it was sheltering a tele in transit. I had no idea, nice surprise — but it's a very cool bag, in the Goldilocks zone. I don't know a thing about these bags —
Can't investigate any further 'cause I can't even decipher the logo

I love this bag. Perfect, in its way. I'd get another, in a heartbeat, if I could track one down. I have others if I need more protection, but it's no slouch. The only other mark on it is a made in China tag. It's way better, much more serviceable, than the cheapies, nowhere near as bulky as a mono or a pro-go, but not far removed from them, protection-wise. Ideal

It's not recognizable, except to say that it's a run o' the mill, middle o' the road, guitar gig bag. Not unlike this one — [This invalid link has been removed]. It'd be a similar value too, I'd be hoping.

The Protec is great as a bag/case hybrid. I got one with my Lull over 20 years ago, and it's beat up, but still protecting.

The only issue with the Gator is that the zipper can be tough to close, but it's a great bag.

The only gig bags I've seen for bass that I would feel comfortable using cost way more than a hard shell case I would feel comfortable with.
That said I do have one gig bag--it's a Rouge Valley one I use for my Mandobird.
I got it used & normally they came with gig bags--but I guess the previous owner didn't include it.
It's an unusual shape--so a lot of cases won't work with it.
But I got one for a baritone Ukulele and it fits, but I have reinforced it with some foam due to shape & size--anything else I found was too small, much bigger, or way more expensive

I can live with the gig bag for the Mandobird, especially due to the extra foam...

I have a Reunion Blues double bass (not, Double Bass ) gig bag that has been great for more than 20 years, now. I also have a Kaces III gig bag that came with my first Rick Turner, a RB5-FL.
