I have one board that I use for three very different kinds of bands.. space doom, NOLA/Memphis style psychedelic funk rock and avantfunk jazz.

Nice! I use the fifth gear late in the chain as a boost - actually after comp so that the volume boost doesn't get clamped down. It's pretty awesome as an always on OD or as an early-in-the-chain boost into other dirt either. Great pedal.

For live performances I'm an All Or Nothing guy: If the gig doesn't absolutely require effects I won't bring any, but if it really needs any effects I bring the whole board

For recording gigs I'll sometimes pick&choose individual stompboxes as required...though, since many of mine are strapped down to the pedalboard it's often easier to bring the whole board to the studio anyway (but then I'll rewire to patch in only the devices I'm using).

This board is pretty low density - lots of space around pedals. Idea was:

1) I don't need that many pedals, and...

2) if something went south, I could bypass it without removing anything from the board - just use a longer jumper to jump around it. Most of the pedals are hard mounted - machine screws from the bottom up through the board and into the pedal. Makes it clean and robust. The homemade box is a 7kHz lo pass filter - essentially my "cabinet emulation", as the out put of this goes to the PA - I play in ears (no amp) almost all the time.

Rather than start a thread on "vacation rigs," I thought I'd post my vacation rig here... but, I could do a gig with it if the local bass player fails to show on this coming Saturday night.

Non sequiter: all my bands hate me this time of year, because I always go to my ancestral home, christmas through new year's.

*Especially true for OCD types: "love my pedal collection, but I might like these other ones I've been reading about on TalkBass even better!" :D

All I use is dirt, and I'm overwhelmed. I sympathize with those of you who also use time, octave, filter (etc).

This is the board I use for most of my gigs.

The fuzz varies a lot. I had been pulling my TAFM off of my big board, but I don't like messing with the connections. The SP mk II has worked ok, and not worked, in the past. The Civil War may not last either. I think I actually need a non-muff fuzz for what I want. Maybe that new DOD fuzz, or a Diabolik.
