The Adrenalinn III is currently non functional...just waiting for a chip to arrive to get it going again. The Spectracomp/Le Bass combo are a huge part of my tone. My bass of choice is a 76 PBass with a Bill Lawrence pickup.

The fuzz varies a lot. I had been pulling my TAFM off of my big board, but I don't like messing with the connections. The SP mk II has worked ok, and not worked, in the past. The Civil War may not last either. I think I actually need a non-muff fuzz for what I want. Maybe that new DOD fuzz, or a Diabolik.

It is a great pedal. I've gotten a number of compliments on the filter tones I get out of it. The filter is very resonant, I am not sure if it is a 2 pole or 4 pole, but it is very resonant. So the clean blend on the filter is well designed to let you take the edge off of the filter. All filter is too resonant and boosted even for me, which is saying something. It is a lowpass filter and the sweep direction is up and there are no controls to change the sweep, but still very good at what it does.

The octaver effect is great too, with the "synth" square wave pad in unison with clean you don't need dirt before it to really get synthy. I think despite the physical layout the filter comes after the octaver in the signal chain, too.

I have over a dozen pedals, but only use 2 or 3 at a time, rotating them from gig to gig. Depends on which band I'm gigging with, what style of music, and what mood I happen to be in.

Here's what I used last gig with my rock band (my busiest band). I almost always use the Darkglass B7K for hard rock, but changed it up. Rundown:
Tech21 Oxford, Darkglass Vintage Deluxe, Damnation Audio MBD-1. I used the MBD-1 for general-purpose usually-on overdrive, the Vintage for heavier midrange crunch, and the Oxford for aggressive ear-piercing clank.

I won't name 'em all, but here are a few others that get frequent use:
  • Darkglass B7K or B7K Ultra is my favorite for modern hard rock
  • Creation Audio Grizzly for gentle tube-like OD (classic rock/Motown stuff)
  • Idiotbox Blower Box for low, medium, high, or ultra-high gain overdrive :)
  • Origin Cali76 G-P compressor
  • Empress Compressor (when stage space is too cramped for the Cali)

How is that Damnation Audio? Does it stack up well with other OD's & Preamps? Would like to put one before my VT Bass that I use as a somewhat gritty preamp.

It stacks beautifully, at least the way I use it (low to moderate gain). It's a neutral pedal overall: that is, aside from leaning a little dark (warm?) it doesn't have a baked in tone. Even the contour of the EQ Shift switch is mild (but noticeable). One of the selling points for me was that the MBD-1 plays well with quiet passives to hot actives -- that's definitely true, and I haven't even had to tweak the internal gain trimpot from the default setting.
