Gig report GK CX210

Brought my new GK CX210 to my rock gig last night. Ran it with my GK MB800 and even with the 8 ohm cab it gave me all the volume I needed. It sounded great to me and had a wonderful bottom and a nice top end and I really did not have to push my amp much beyond where I run it with my Berg CN212. My drummer loved the lows and said he was able to hear me better. But the band leader and singer/acoustic guitar player said he was not digging it and much preferred the Berg. Said he could not hear my attack and did not have the clarity that the Berg had. I will try it next on a gig with my EUB since that is what I got it for. For the money I think it is a great sounding cab. It is light yet still slightly awkward to move. It also puts out a lot of sound for a 210 8 ohm cab. More to follow.....

Thanks for sharing. Eager to hear more, as these cabs seem to be one of the better values out there. I've wondered whether they more resemble GK's generally excellent cabs, or their value-priced and reportedly sub-par GLX and Backline cabs.

I vertical stack of 2 of these might be very interesting..

Unfortunately I have no experience with GK cabs. This is my first GK cab in thirty plus years of gear whoredom unless you count a few brief flings with two of their pro level combos. In those instances I found their cabs to be pedestrian yet solid. This one seems to be similar. I do not think it will stand up to much road wear from my initial impression. The tolex seems to be thin and easily marked up and the grill much the same. That said, the sound is where the cab shines. It sounds fantastic for the money in my humble opinion. I dont expect $1249 hand built durability from a $349 cab but sound wise I feel like it is giving you every penny's worth.

How does that CX210 hold up to a grungy heavy (no distortion) sound? Also, is it portable enough?
