Encouraged by BassCliff to issue a gig report on our last play date, here it is. Sorry no photos, have to concentrate more on that in the future. Set up time is usually a flurry of activity and I forget about taking photos.
We are a seven piece band playing popular songs from the 50's forward. I play mandolin in this band, and fill in on bass and guitar as needed. Our primary venues are senior centers and independent living centers. Last year we played 40 dates and had 38 scheduled this year till Covid hit. We have played 5 gigs this year with this one being the first indoor date since March.
Our show normally changes every month (before Covid) and we play for between an hour and an hour and a half. We usually fit in 17 or 18 songs, and do the occasional request. Our set list this time included Folsom Prison Blues, Save the Last Dance For Me, Do Wah Diddy, Suspicious Minds, Don't Close Your Eyes, Poison Ivy, House of the Rising Sun, Monster Mash, Top of the World, Ghost Riders in the Sky, 123 by Len Barry, and several others (I don't have the set list with me now).
We played in a large room with maybe 20 people there, plus the double doors to other large rooms were open adding another 20 to 30 folks in those rooms. Total audience was somewhere between 50 and 60. This is one of our regular venues that we normally play 3 or 4 times a year. The event coordinator said we could be heard on other floors and that residents from those floors came down to listen also. No food at this gig, so you have not missed any food pics. We played from 6:30 - 7:45 PM, and were out the door by 8:30. The audience enjoyed the show and several folks talked to us afterwards. Everyone in the band helps with set up and tear down, so it goes pretty quickly. Tentative arrangements were made for our next gig at this venue, specific date still pending.
I suspect any future gigs will vary during the cold months here based on the specific indoor space available at each venue and the progress of the Covid problem. No one wants to take any unnecessary risks.
