Gig report: Surfs up!

Played a fun gig Fri night:

Surfing US Open party near the HB pier.
Started the night with 3x World champ Tom Curren playing a solo set.
We went on next, started our set with Ain't no sunshine then went on to do something I rarely get to do anymore. Played a full on punkrock set.

Our singer, Joe was in TSOL and wrote a bunch of great tunes back in the 80's. On rare occasions we will do a show of his old tunes.

Put a fresh set of rounds on the pbass, lowered my strap about 4ins. and dug in.

BA! looks like it was a hoot. Knew Tom Curren had a band but never got around to checking them out. Was he any good?

Tom was great. Powerflex 5 closed the night. Members inlcude Steve Alba who is in the skateboarding hall of fame and I believe Jessica's uncle ( no, she wasn't there).

Yep, sling'em low and power pose. I actually change my strap height pretty often but rarely this low.

Very cool, congrats on a great gig!
I remember back in the day my girlfriend and I were living in this really crappy duplex. My next door neighbors were a bunch of skaters and had built a huge half pipe that took up the whole backyard. The crew would get together every afternoon to party, skate and blast punk music.
TSOL was in heavy rotation.

Tom is known as being one of the most stylish surfers of all time. A pretty decent guitar player as well.

Looks like a great show. I recall seeing TSOL with Bad Religion at Santa Barbara - Jay Bentley was on bass for both. I'll have to see if I can catch one of your shows next time I'm in the El Lay area. Looks like fun.
