Gig-worthy Fretless 5, Under $1000?

Guys guys guys, let's get this back on track. He plays Skjold basses, is at a 'level' where he can fire people for using cheap gear, and needs a recommendation for a 5 string fretless bass that is 'giggable' because, you know, when you play Skjold basses, you lose familiarity with the riff raff.
A G&L L5500 might suit his needs so long as he doesn't end up like me.
