gigbag choices

Hi,

I want a gigbag with a good protection and also lightweight. I can put the price to get it.

I thought about the undercover, I' m sure these are good to protect my basses but are they light ?

If you have over suggestions don' t hesitate.

The two lightest, high quality (and somewhat expensive) gigbags are Mooradian and Mono.

The Mono has more protection (hybrid/stiff design), but the Mooradian has much more pocket space.

Both featherweight and top of the line IMO and IME.

I wholeheartedly recommend iGig but they are not lightweight by any stretch... The Protec Contego is a good stiff bag, lightweight and won't break the bank either...

Always forget to mention the Contego. VERY nice mid priced bag... decent quality, plenty of protection, lightweight, plenty of storage in the pockets. Great bag and a super bag for the money.

Another vote for Mono. I have the M80, the 2 bass model, and have never had an issue. Great bags that will outlast cockroaches.

On durability, some light weight bags will hardly make it a season..but they are cheap and trendy...bought a body glove for 70 bucks at Sam Ashe after X-mas sale. I'm poser surfer when I want to be.

Not long ago I asked my instructor about gig bags and he strongly recommended a Reunion Blues Continental based on his experience. Apparently the video of them dropping a guitar off a building is true because he had enough confidence in his bag to throw it, with custom built 6 string in it, across the store. Pretty impressive, but pretty insane. ;) It's obviously extremely well padded and it also tons of storage space. The drawback for me is that I wanted something light weight and it's a pretty heavy bag.

I found a used Mono M80 here and LOVE it. The only drawback for me is that I think the front pocket might not be big enough to hold a MB500 or F1 sized micro head. I'm looking for one of those, so I'm really hoping it will fit. But I still love the bag.

A few people mentioned a Contego, which I was also interested in. But I didn't see one in the stores near here and I couldn't find any pictures of what the inside looked like, so I passed. If I do need to replace the Mono because I need more storage, I might give on of them a try.
