Gigbag recommendations?

Hey guys,

I'm really wanting to get a solid gigbag for gigging around town so that I can leave the hardshell at home and not lug it around. I've been looking at a few bags from musicians friend but i'm not real sure what to go with.

I would like a good quality bag that will protect my bass without paying an arm and a leg for it. I would like to stay around or even under 100 bucks.

What are you guys using and what would you recommend?

I use a Fender Deluxe. I like it a whole lot better than the $30.00 gig bag I had originally.

Of course, I don't have an uber expensive instrument. If your bass is worth some money, or would be hard to replace, I'd stick with the hard case.

Does Warwick sell their bags separately? Man those things are nice. They even have a 'neck hugger' section with velcro straps.

i dig my warwick rockbag but its pretty heavy by it self for a gig bag and adds some weight to the whole backpack

Unless they've changed their design in the last dew years I would skip the Warwick Rockbag. The ones I've owned had very little protection on the bottom (one of the places it counts most). My advice would be to not skimp when it comes to buying a decent bag. Do it right the first time and then you won't have to spend even more money fixing your initial mistake. I would go with either Mono or iGig (or if you're worried more about protection than comfort when it comes to wearing the case on your shoulders, the Sadowsky Portabag).

There's about as many threads on this subject as there are good gig bag makers.

Personally, I've been using Mooradian for 20+ years.

I really couldn't make up my mind about whether or not I wanted to spend a lot on a gigbag or not. I ended up going with this:

I have had something similar to this before and it protected my instrument well and was much lighter than the G&G hardshell case I have now. I saw no point in paying 200 bucks for a nice gigbag when I could get this polyfoam case for 80 bucks.
