FCUK is a corporate acronym for a fashion company called French Connection United Kingdom. It is used in advertising all over Britain.

I did read the history. I see no attitude problem. Someone is having trouble learning a song that should be easy. Gets given some good advice. and the gets told to change attitude. A lot of people here seem to act like they were never learners and knew exactly what to do as soon as they began wanting to play music. This kind of reminds me of The headmistress in Matilda by Roald Dahl. Try reading it.

BTW Chris A, Nowhere did I state that I think that my opinion is the only one that counts. So you think that i should not give my opinion if it is not the same as yours or the majority?? I have no problems with any ones opinions. Not everyone has aspirations to become a great musician. Some just like playing. I see no problem with this. I see no problem with someone using tabs. And surely the TAB thing has been repeated over and over again that when people start saying 'TAB is not as good as notation' (which it is not, definetly) then the thread should be shut and the user directed towards the search function to find out more about this instead of wasting space by going over well walked ground.

Its amazing how much people will read into a few typed words.

Many people, myself included, would not know that. My brother who is 13 years old reads this board. When he sees FCUK he will not think that it means French Connection United Kingdom. So if that is indeed the case, perhaps a better was would be to say FC, United Kingdom so that there is no confusion.

y does every1 care soooooooooo much bout my damn name

how does it harm u

It harms because it offends. I don't want my kid brother being exposed to that kind of language. So maybe you could pretend like you are all grown up and change it.

On second thought, the fact that the user name is "Punk as ..."

This has nothing at all to do with what you are describing anyway. It's just a vulgarity. There is no reason for it other than ignorant shock value.

I say change the name or ban the account.

Its amazing how learned people are so quick to criticise those who are learning.

No body here has ever criticised me or anyone for whating to learn. In fact, I think its been just the opposite, they've ALL been very supportive, and extremely patient. (at least with me)

the problem here is that some fool comes in with a disrespectful user name, and then says really stupid stuff like "oh well, guess ill go masterbate" or something to that effect. The same goes for his user name. Even though it is misspelled. Its blatently obvious what he's implying with it. And so far most of what he's said combined with his user name is just not in good taste.

This is a site that is open to all ages, that means kids come here too. And I dont think the younger kids, (especially those that are pre-teens) should be exposed to stuff like that. I know if I was a parent that I wouldnt want my child to read stuff like that. Im sure most every if not every parent here will agree with me on that as well.

Sorry for the misunderstanding Jacoproud, I meant read the history of Talkbass. Do a search for all my posts under General Instruction. I'll wait.

Okay, now, try and tell me I'm rude and not helpful. Just try it. I dare ya.

Geez, now I'm being called elitist and rude. Whatever. This thread has nothing to do with him asking for tab or using tab, it has to do with "Give me the order!" Could you imagine walking into a bar on 52nd St. in the '40s and shouting at Mingus to "give me the changes!" You would have been laughed out of the city. Oh well, I guess it's my job to baby people that are rude to me. Someone that I don't know tells me to do something, watch how unhelpful I become.

Because this forum is viewed by bassists of all ages, all posts must be suitable for viewing by young teens. All profanity must be completely covered with asterisks, or substituted with "@%$#" symbols. If you do not mask profanity in your posts, moderators reserve the right to delete the post. If what you have to say wouldn't be suited for network TV, don't post it here

And it was stated not too long ago about switching 2 letters of a word around not being OK. Which is what he has done with his username.

But now I suppose I have made a whole bunch of you mad  , so I will say no more.

I think we should start a movement to systematically replace that tired old chestnut, "Here I Sit, Brokenhearted...." with the above bedanglement of nimble yet expressive verbiage. In addition to providing a great humanitarian service to mankind, it might also help me overcome my distaste for public restrooms.
