GK 1x12" Always Hissing

I've had a constant problem with my GK1x12" NEO. The sound is not tight and the lower the note I play the more the sound distorts. There is also a constant hissing of higher frequencies. I turned the horn off, tried different speak-on cables, and finally replaced the driver with the correct driver from GK. All without any change or results. Any ideas what else to check? I am running my Mesa Subway in to the cab at very low volumes in y bedroom. The cab is set to Full Range. Thank you for any advice!

Can you try your amp with a different speaker? It’s possible there is damage to the speaker or the crossover.

The speaker is not the source of the noise, the amp is.
(This does not mean there is nothing wrong with your cab, just that the noise is coming from the amp!)
A loudspeaker that itself could generate noise (energy) without getting that energy from a source (your amp) would break the laws of thermodynamics.

Is there a tweeter level control on the cabinet? If the tweeter is much higher sensitivity than the low frequency driver and turned all the way up, the his may be more pronounced relative to the low frequencies.

Let's determine if it's normal part of the character of the cabinet first, then we can move forward with other possibilities.
