I'm running a fender p/j through a Hartke 3500 and into a GK Backline 2x10 cabinet. It sounds great, but when I play a B at higher volumes the cab sounds terrible with a nasty buzz. I can play the b anywhere on the neck and it still buzzes. My diagnosis is that the speakers have a resonant frequency the same as a B, but it seems like if a company was making a speaker made to play every note they would have thought of that. Anyone have any ideas?

GK Cab Buzz

In my experience, the Backline 210 was never that great of a cabinet to begin with.
But I never tried it with a 5-string, so I'm not sure how it's supposed to handle a B-string. Then again, I wouldn't expect it to do particularly well anyway.
Their SBX, RBH, and Neo cabinets work fine with the low B, however. It's the Backline series that I'm skeptical about.

it's not even a 5 string bass is the kicker. I play a four string but even a B on the fourth fret of the G string makes it buzz.
I'm trying to save up to get a better cab. I was thinking if put some type of weight (something simple like tape) on the speaker it might change the mass and therefore the resonance frequency, but I don't know.

Have you tried playing in another room? It could be something else rattling and not actualy the cab. Also, I think your amp has an inbuilt compressor. Have you tried engaging that, and see if it goes away. This might also be a setup issue. Have you tried using another bass?
check to see if something is loose. If the bracing in the cabinet has cracked or something, it might do that. Or it might not be the cabinet at all. Try a different bass and see if it does it.
