GK Combo Shootout...MB210 vs. MB212

sounds like you just stepped on your cable or something.

w/o the horn turned on, my MB210 is quiet as a mouse (except for when I'm playin obv)

I got no problem with it at all.

I make any minor adjustments I need to my EQ with the controls on my active bass. Never touch the amp controls once I start playing so it's no big deal.

You can also stack it sideways if you need to

sh!t, now I'm considering buying one... are it's benefits really only noticeable on hollow stages though? tallboybass mentioned that it didn't have too much of an effect when he used it with his MB210...

Quick summary....MB210+115 was quite a bit louder and had more thundering lows than the MB212. As the MB212 breaks in, it is doing quite well in the lows department...actually I liked it more when the lows were a little more 'tucked' personally. I'm running the MB212 straight-up 'flat', whereas the MB210 demands to have the lows rolled off and the highs boosted for 'my' sound. The MB210 by itself strains a bit to deliver the volume level that an MB212 can handle with ease.

So for volume it's
MB210+115
MB212
MB210
in pretty much equal stairsteps.

well, this wednesday, finally, I'm going into the studio that has the Peavey 410 cab that I sometimes play through. I'll get to have a whole rehearsal running a 610 setup with my MB210+Peavey410 cab. :bassist:

I'll be able to at least report on that late Wednesday night.

can you explain exactly what the GRAMMA does to your sound?

i'm considering getting one but only want to if it really makes a significant difference for the MB210.

Does it just sort of tighten up the bottom and add punch to it?

I read their description that says it adds acoustic isolation but I don't really know what that means for my sound.

If it'll make the sound less muddy and more punchy then I'm always looking for something to help with that.

That must be what happened. I played for about 5 hours Saturday and no strange noises other than my playing.:D
I liked the Fender Bassman 250/210 I used before but the MB210 is a nice combo. It has a totally different sound than the Fender but I like it. I messed with the settings some but kept them close to your settings. Plenty of power with good tone. Now to get the 210MBE cab for it...that's my next step.

I'm tellin you. Once I saw that I was shocked.

I have gotten confirmation from a sales rep from GK that in mid to late June, the 410MBE will be released along with the 210MBE.

800 watts handling @ 8 ohms, 40 LBS!!!!!

I'm skeptical too. But I'm also looking at the 212MBE. At 34 lbs, that would be sweet with my LMII and could possibly replace a 112 and my 410. Nice price too.

...and we KNOW that's do-able with the MB212 weighing in at 38 lbs. I wouldn't rule out the combo unless you hate GK heads. It's SO awesome to roll in one 38 lb. 'thing', plug it into the wall and RAWK!!

I have to say here.....the MB212 will, in no way compete with a big 212 cab like a GB NeoX-212T for volume....or at least I don't THINK so. Uh oh, another comparo to do!

Yeah, probably just gear envy on my part. :p

Having a 112 and 410 will cover the range of gigs I have. But lately, it has been all IEMs so the 410 has a layer of dust on the cover and hasn't seen the light of day. The 112 gets a little time, but not much. Mostly use my mp3 trainer around the house.

Wouldn't even be thinking about this but we moved 2 years ago our house is smaller, so space is at a premium and I'd love to get some electronic drums too. :hiding:
