))))))))GK MB Fusion 800!!(((((((

Curious as to if you find yourself having a hard time taming the hi end on the neo 212's with the mbf800? Finding that I have to really back off the hi's on both my basses pre and the head, and also dialing the tweeter almost completely out.
I've finally got it tweaked to my liking, but it was a bit of a struggle to get there.

I don't.
I usually have the horns set at about 1/3 on
Treble and bass at about 10 oclock, high mids about flat, low mids at about one oclock.
I play active J's with stainless rounds. On those, I typically have treble boosted a little, and passive tone shut a little.

Chef- any chance you wouldn't mind giving a quick a/b of the 1001rb and the MBF800? I'm very familiar with the 1001rbii and interested in the f800. I saw that you said overall volume is similar, how about tone? Your tonal goals seem similar to mine judging on your equipment choices and past comments...

Generally speaking, the 1001 sounds a little more vintage. A little less top and bottom end; a little softer and warmer.
Generally speaking, the MBF is cleaner by nature, maybe, and has more native treble and bass extension.

However, I'd also wager that you could eq them to where no one in the crowd or at the board could tell the diff in most cases.
To me, the neatest thing about the 1001 is the horn management system, that lets you set horn level from the faceplate controls of the amp; when used with the proper GK cabs.

That's all pretty general and vague-ish, if you have specific q's, feel free to ask.

So generally speaking no loss of thump or note heft? I would think I could tame highs, and extended lows are welcome for me, although the 1001 seems to extend pretty well for me. If the f800 slams as hard as the 1001 and is in the same relative tonal family I might need a backup

As I said, I think there's plenty of eq there to make them sound more or less the same.
Or, at least for me there is.
When I say "one has more this or that," I mean with eq set the at "GK flat," which is ~ bass and highs at 11 oclock, high and low mids at 1 oclock.

So, from there, plenty of eq left to make them sound the same.

Dual use knobs tested:

Powered up (amp came up on Channel A)
Set amp to channel B, activated contour shift, bright and deep
Powered down

Powered back up:
Amp set to Channel A; contour, bright and deep all off.

I repeated this three times:
same result.
So; the amp re-sets on power down.

I take it back, about buttons getting joggled in the bag.
I get it now; I can live with the amp re-setting to baseline.

If I'd read the manual, it might have clearly stated this;
so, it may be the fact that I'm Part Moron that's responsible for my misunderstanding.

Doubt a moron would have been able to figure that out.

btw, I had the MB800 for a few months and recently traded it to a fellow tb'er. Last I heard he was very happy with it.
Now I am wondering if I would have been as willing to part with it if it had been the MBF800. That was part of my transaction when I was looking for the 'Buster' head.

I find it interesting that the solid state 1001RBII sounds a bit softer, warmer, and more vintage than the tube-preamp MBF800 but it's been quite a while since I played one. That's a good thing. I love the voicing, control layout, and overhead of the MBF800 and used 1001RBII are available at bargain prices.

I also play the MBFusion800 with 1 or 2 NEO 212s.

If its one cab the horn is actually up a little at +2 if I use two cabs I'm but the bottom cab on neutral.
Highs back to 1100 High Mids backed to somewhere between 10-11:00, both lowmids and lows are flat.

Depending on the preamp I might go flat (if its an Audere Low Z engaaged) or if Nonstandard I actually cut the highs and boost the lows (just a touch each)

I tailor my amps for the room and Basses to how they are direct by themselves so this way if the house grabs my line before my rig its what I perceive it to be (at least on my end).

I've looked through the owners manual and didn't see any reference , I'll be running a Berg HD212 , as this is 4 ohms , is this the limit , or can the MB800 Fusion run an additional cab ? I don't think I'll need it for my application , just curious . Thanks in advance

I just pulled the trigger on an MB800 Fusion , I had a Mesa Bass Prodigy on order , but the 2x12 cab was backordered till July and they'd been having issues with the KT88's going , so I cancelled and went with the Fusion 800 and a Bergantino HD212 , should be here in a few days , can't wait !

That's a great combo! Enjoy! :bassist: :bassist: :bassist:

The MBF 800 won't go less than a 4ohm load, at least I wouldn't do it and I do believe that is stated in the manual. I just got and HD112 stack and used it Saturday with my MBF800 and it was superb for me.
There has been some discussion on pairing a 212/112 or three 112's. You would need to slave another amp to drive the additional cab or get a 2ohm capable amp set up.

It is a 4Ω limit... My new crew guy used the wrong cab confing,, So it was less than 4 ohms.. I would NOT run it below the recommended 4 ohm load... It was an accident they did that.. But i did not have an issue.. I was lucky.. What would happen ?? I dont know.. Most likely it would just shut down due to a Impedance Fault... would it go up in smoke.. I dont dont.. Possibly.. Just that nothing happened in my situation..

I used this setup on the gig mentioned above..... It was a set of gigs we did with singer Paul Rogers. I have my MBF800 as backup to my fender TB1200 on those gigs... Below A photo of the rack with both amps..
I used my SVT 810 on a few dates..
BUT the gig where i had the Mismatch was when i used my Genz Uber 115 and Xsonics 1155 TF cab... my crew guy was supposed to run the Fender TB1200 since it is 2Ω safe... But instead he ran the GK MBF800.... The two cabs ( that actually match real nice sonically ) has a total impedance on 2.6Ω .. Totally safe for the Fender head... Not so sure about the GK.. But it worked.. and i had no issues...
NOTE:this photo is NOT from that gig. It is from a smaller gig i did this week

I -think- the GK would shut down via thermal proteect before it "smoked," but I sure wouldn't run it under 4 ohms...

Fender TB1200/800PRO: amps I haven't tried but want to.

Gigging with Paul Rogers: sweeeeeet gig man....
