GK MB200 Not working

So I just bought a GK MB200 new from RMC a few weeks ago as a living room rig, I borrowed a friend's for a few weeks and I was sold.

I've been busy, today was the first day I got to play it. It worked for the first 2 minutes of playing and then the sound stopped. I changed basses, cables, speakon cables, cabinets, and blew on it like an old Nintendo system and I have no sound. All of the lights go on as usual, but no sound.

I've been trying to call GK technical service all day. I keep getting a voicemail saying "mailbox is full". Any advice on what to do? I'm pretty angry, if this is what's to come with this thing, It's going in the trash.

Not in the trash - they need to fix this as it is obviously not fit for service. I have had no problems at all with mine though, or noise. Some work anyway so you should have some hope that your replacement is going to be good.

With an efficient speaker, it is a capable amp. 200W at 100 dB/W is the equivalent of 400W at 97 dB/W or 800W at 94 dB/W. However, the less efficient versions often have more bottom end so it is not the whole story.

I love mine, hope you get a good service eventually from yours. just keep trying, someone will answer eventually.

Not in the trash yet, I'm just annoyed because I wanted to bring it to a jam tonight, I'm going by train so 2 pounds would have been awesome. That's okay, nothing my Genz Shuttle can't fill in.

I changed everything, the cab it's currently hooked to is a GK 212, so there shouldn't be a cab problem.

Maybe I got a dud, hopefully they take care of me and nothing has to leave my wallet. I've been a faithful customer of theirs for years.

I'm a little concerned. One of the side screws is in a little crooked and the "made in USA" sticker looks a bit faded. I hope I didn't get a refurbished unit. That's not what I paid for.

Instead of calling GK Service, I'd be calling RMC to tell them they sent a DOA amp, and what are they gonna do about it ?

+1 to the above. My bet is you’ll need to send that one back to RMC and RMC will send you a new one. In any event, the last thing I’d do is worry - if RMC doesn't take care of it GK will and you’ll end up a super happy camper. But I know how you feel - it's a bummer. :(

It's good to hear that other people have had nothing but good things to say about this head. This is why I own multiple heads, this type of thing happens.

I think I'm going to leave GK alone for today. It's Friday and I'm sure they're all trying to get things done to leave work on time. I'll take a few days off and start fussing again on Monday.

I wanted to spend the weekend tweaking the head to where I like, looks like I have no excuse not to do yardwork :rollno:.

+1.

Yeah, me too. BTW, I think MF will price match and they have great CS (they exchange - no problem, and fast). I’m looking forward to hearing/reading what happens on Monday after you make contact with GK and etc. Anyway, have a good weekend bro.

I tried to pricematch with MF before, they can be a real pain, claiming that RMC isn't an authorized dealer, which is bs.

When MF and GC have their 15% sales, I typically go with GC. Every time I enter the coupon code at checkout with MF, it says it's not applicable with that item. When I checkout with the same item with GC, it works. I have no idea why. It happened last month when I bought a Genz Benz head. Happened to me yesterday when I bought a P bass case.

Most of all, I'm annoyed because I'll probably have to pay to ship this thing to GK on the other side of the country. Seeing that this item only costs $200 and shipping is sky high, it's frustrating.

That blows. I thought that within 30 days the supplier should deal with all returns and such... GK has a good rep with CS, I'd be confident they'll get to you.

I'm looking into getting an mb fusion 500, of thomann.de.... which gives a 3 year guarantee. I'd check the T&C to see if they're liable (I don't know consumer rights that well in the US).

Brian would be my first choice and maybe PM rag here.
I am surprised at RMC! They used to be excellent with their CS!

The CS guy at RMC told me to contact Brian. I'll send some e-mails Monday. Sounds like they're going to take care of me, I'll be patient with them in that case. I'm just bummed.
