GK mb200 ultra light head?

Thanks! Man: you cannot believe how good this couple is!!! The cab is a self built 2x6,5" having Ciare cm161 speakers in series tuned at 55/60 hz and they married together promptly deliver tons of lows, mids, highs!!!

To me this combination is way better than the Minimark, that has two B&C speakers (given that these are the ones used in the Minimark) with Fs (resonance freq.) at 72 hz (Ciare has it at 66 hz)!!!!

P.S.: Leesburg, VA? I worked almost three years in Leesburg at the Iridium Control Center during 98/99/2000! I lived in the Ashburn village and was used to go to the... "holy places" almost daily (you know: Melodee music and the other twin shop on the main road to Washington...)

Does anyone know settings to use on this amp to flatten out the frequency response?

Only addresses your question indirectly, but you might take a look at post #485 in this thread.

With the controls straight up on the MB200 I find it a little bass-heavy and mid-shy (especially the high mids, doesn't feel like that control does as much to me as the rest).

Sounds to me like Mark's problem is a defective ICEpower module. Simple part swap, 15 minutes max, easiest fix in the world to do. Pull cover, 4 screws, 5 cables, install temp sensor on new module w/ heat transfer compound and a tie wrap, screw board back down, replace cables, replace cover, good to go. I doubt GK will try to repair the board; they'll probably send it back to B&O for credit/refund.

Still waiting to hear something back from GK. No communication with them except for a reply acknowledging receipt of the amp when I asked about it several weeks back. I missed a FedEx package today, though. Not expecting anything, so maybe that's it? Would like to have it back and working properly. Don't feel like I ever got to put it through its proper paces. Will keep you posted in any case.

How'd you like that little thing apart from tone?
I want to try one for portable gigs, but it's so pricey...
I think its great! Tons of features such as built in tuner, drum machine, effects, modelling, runs on batteries for 12hrs etc etc.

The low-end is its weak point and its not any where near loud either. Its loud enough for an acoustic living room jam, but thats about it. I think, if I remember correctly, that its rated at 2 watts. 2 watts!

It does sound louder than 2 watts though.

I have the Bass Cube RX also. Came in really handy recently - jamming with an acoustic guitar. The perfect tool for specific situations. But yeah, for practice though, I'd rather play a real amp with the volume set to .001, or else phones.

Contour = Off
Treble = 10:00
Hi-Mid = 2:00
Lo-Mid = 1:00
Bass = 10:00

I did this by twiddling the knobs while watching a spectrum analyzer display, with the signal taken from the preamp output. Yes, it's geeky, but I was curious. These settings will get you to within 1/2 dB of flat.

Don't try this at home. Plugging the speaker output into the audio input of my notebook computer, with the volume all the way down, and even after checking with a voltmeter, is what smoked my audio hardware.

I just picked one up yesterday. This thing sounds great. Compared to a GK RB1001RBII it is obviously not as loud, but the tone is fuller. There is definitely something going on in there, kind of like a bit of boost built in, but its not as aggressive as the boost in the 1001RBII. I couldn't help myself so I took the cover off and snapped a few pictures.

I bought this because the amp in my modified Ashdown Combo died. This is a match made in heaven! I put two Eminence Acoustinator acoustic guitar speakers in this combo. They are 8" Neo's with Hemp cones. The cabinet is sealed and filled with Acoustistuff. With the contour on it sounds like a baby SVT and It can rattle the walls with the B string. This combo is tiny, but the extra speaker on the back makes it sound huge and the MB200 can give it more than it can handle.

I've noticed that the PC boards in the MB200 are of higher quality than the other amps I own. Thats a neat little 2X8 combo for sure!

Yeah this is not a cheaply made amp it looks like the real deal. Thanks I love this little combo. It stood up to one pretty loud electric quitar in a jam when it had the old 100 watt acoustic guitar amp in it. It should do a little better now. When you tilt it back the bass get's stronger because of the rear speaker.
