GK mb200 ultra light head?

Do all mb200 have speakon/quarter output jacks?

Well, the early ones did for sure, but it seems that the newer ones may only be equipped with the Speakon, not the combo.

If the speaker jack is green, it is the combo jack, if it is black, it is speakon only. The manuals online have not been updated across the board to reflect what is seemingly a design change with newer models.

Ok...I only use the speakon anyway!

I'm sending my MB200 back. Makes a loud, high pitched whining sound through the speakers after being on for a few minutes.

What - you don't like that? :p

Sounds like you got a lemon. Most aren't.

Sure wish I'd bought two when they first came out, for that dope-butt combo jack. Too bad. Usually GK products get more good, not less, as they work the bugs out.

And, at only 200 watts, if they were going to switch to a single jack only, why would that single jack be a speakon? ???? Oh, well.

Love that we blew out the 1000-post mark already, talking about this wonderful little head. More where that came from, guessing--

I agree with crag.p regarding it most likely being a business choice, but even without that concern, why should this be a problem? Speakon connectors are pretty much everywhere now, and it's also a MUCH MUCH better design in every way - regardless of power levels.

Probably so they wouldn't have to change the metal fab, which would've required not just redesigning the fab itself but also re-qualification with the various gummint agencies.
+1

IMHO anyway.

just for my two bits, i bought one of these heads and a SWR goliath JR 2x10 with tweeter. it sounds SO CLEAR and pretty powerfull for the price. power wise tho im not worried becuase the goliath has an output on it to daisy chain another cab ie, a 1x15, which i tried in stores, it was so loud for a lil guy. My p bass with flats sounds primusy and my stingray with DRs sound just perfect.

I really want to pick up an mb200 as I live the gk tone but when I stopped by my local gc yesterday the one they had on display had a horrible hissing sound and the blue light kept going from blue to purple to red?? Should I stay away from this head or order a new one online?

speakon speakon speakon... oh boys: let alone the advantage of just using a wirecutter and a screwdriver vs. the soldering iron (but you just do this once in the cable lifetime, supposedly), would anybody that is not a speakon connector seller please sincerely explain to me which is the big, real, concrete advantage of this speakon frenzy vs. the standard jack that made its honest job for decades (and that still continues this unacknowledge task with much humility)? I mean, I could understand if we were talking about the bass: you have a locked in connection, so in case of wrong moves... but the head and the cab are just there, standing still on the floor one on top of the other; then once you plug them it's there... which is this seemingly "huge" difference?

You shouldn't buy that particular one for sure... o_O
They're great little heads though, I highly recommend grabbing one.

As for the Speakon thing, I love them.
Mostly because they're solid locking connectors, and can't get their tips bent or be confused with instrument cables.
