GK Micro Bass and Half Stack

I've been looking online for a new amp, to upgrade from my 20 watt Acoustics amp. I ran across the GK MB 1050S Micro Stack, and the GK Brat Pack Half Stack. Does anyone have any experience with these? The thing that seems nice about the Micro Bass is that they sell another speaker cab that you can add to it if you need to. I mainly play reggae and blues, so I prefer a warm mellower tone as opposed to punchiness. Thanks

I've got the GK MB 150S combo. Wonderful sound and with the matching extension cabinet it does even better. I can get a great blues sound from it. But it is not an amp to use live with a loud drummer and guitarist. The speakers used are pretty low in efficiency compared to many others. I don't know about the Brat pack half stack except it'll probably be louder with less of what I consider a good sound. Of course either would be an upgrade from your 20 watt Acoustic.

Big difference in price between your two choices too. Is price not all that important?

I'd like to stay in the 500.00 range. I figured I could find the 150 S used at that price. I won't be playing live, more like small jams in my uncles basement with maybe one or two guitars and a singer.

You might be able to get the MB 150S used for that price. Check it out thoroughly before buying to make sure the speaker hasn't been damaged.

Sure, I could get by in the type of jam you describe with mine. Great sounding combo. Very warm when you want it to be.

I have a little Yorkville Sound XM50C that is only 50 watts and has a 10" speaker that also works for jams like that. I've done it although not at my uncle's house because all my uncles are dead and gone now. However, if I had an uncle I wouldn't hesitate to use it. It just doesn't have the tone of the MB 150S although it'll play just about as loud.

I think everyone should own one of those little GK combos. They record beautifully too.
