GK new MBP Powered Enclosures? (More info please!)

That should follow under the "Updated Combos" category, at least that's what I'm banking on.

Though I have to admit, I am a bit surprised not to hear word of the MB200/500/800 being updated with such a port. Yes, it's an actual amp head, but still, you can only connect so much before you're at that 4ohm limit. It seems like several extensions will be able to be chained together...at least more than the number of cabs you could hook up to one of those heads at a time.

We will see what happens.

the suspense is killin' me. Mr. Gallien, I will be in line for the MBP series on day one. My MB115 has made me a true GK believer. It will need an upgrade if that is still the plan, but I just can't wait for the versatiliy and sound quality that this product line is going to deliver. Go GK!

Looks like the 212MBP will have same cost as MB212, not much point as a stand-alone then. In addition since there is no volume control on-board, it's bit sketchy to use with preamps like Sansamp, because you can adjust stage volume only from Sansamp level knob and this also affects DI level.

That comment was for stand-alone, for GK range extension it sounds like a great product.

For the cost, I think the MBP's are 100 bucks cheaper then their matching combos. Its essentially the same thing as the combo, without the preamp. Should be same cabinet, same speakers, same amp, same finishes, etc. So I wasnt expecting a huge price decrease because the only thing that is missing is the preamp.

I think the idea behind these was to allow them to hook up to the combos, and use the combos master volume control to control the output volume on the MBP's.

Thats why Im assuming there will be a new MBP speaker output jack on the combos that is post EQ, and post voume control.

Therefore, if you want to raise stage volume, you only have 1 volume knob to turn up and thats the knob on the combo. You wouldnt want the combo to be 1 volume level and then the MBP powered cabinets to be another volume level. For simplicity's sake, it makes sense to only have to turn 1 knob to adjust your overall level.

Im also assuming that the powered speakers will be able to be powered by most preamps and you would control the volume of the MBP cabinets with the volume level on the preamp.

I believe that the MB series combos will have a modification available that will install a balanced XLR out to drive the MBPs post EQ/Post volume. Or you can drive them with another pre-amp, as long as it has a balanced XLR output. Bob, please correct me if I have this wrong.
