GK1001RBII cable question

This is a quick question for Bob Gallien and anyone else out there.
I recently picked up a 1001RBII and a 210RBH cabinet, both second-hand. Great equipment.
I'm using them in full-range mode (with the tweeter attentuator knob on the cab all the way off-- I hate tweeters :)) and I'm using a standard, high quality speaker cable to connect them (not the GK Speakon cable).
The owner's manual seems to indicate that the Speakon cable should be used in either bi-amp or full-range modes, with the switch on the cab in the appropriate position.
Will what I'm doing -- using a standard cable instead of the Speakon cable -- cause problems, damage, inferior tone, etc., etc.?

By "standard speaker cable", do you mean 1/4 to 1/4? If so, that shouldn't cause any problems. Then again, using a "standard" 2-wire Speakon to Speakon cable shouldn't cause any problems either.

IMO, the only thing that could cause problems with a GK bi-amped head would be using the GK 4-wire Speakon cable with a non-GK cab that hasn't been wired for the bi-amp.

Standard cable as far as a cable with 1/4" plug ends? It won't hurt a thing. Speakons are generally more physically secure, and can handle more power, but you aren't truly missing anything with a regular speaker cable.

it shouldn't make a big difference at all. I've run mine both ways (biamped or fullrange), it seems to sound the same either way. the main thing that using the 4-wire speakon gives you is the tweeter control in front of the amp.
as long as you are using a high-quality speaker cable as you say i can't see why it would make a noticeable difference.

Yes, I'm talking about 1/4" plugs.
I figured there wouldn't be a problem, but it was a bit odd that the manual didn't mention that they were an option. Unless I missed something...
Thanks!

Since we were discussing the 1001RBII and "cables" maybe I can segwe into another question closely related, if nobody minds. :) I own a GK700RB and it came w/ a nice thick AC Cable. Northwire Inc. 16/3 SJT. I recently purchased a GK1001RB-II [used] and it came with this thin GlobTek computer cable. I seriously doubt that this is the proper AC Cable. The Amp's power requirements are specific: 1001RB-II ( 120V - 15A ).

The cable he sent me is: GlobTek EL-701 ( 250V - 10A )

I will swap out these thin AC cables all day on cheap computer's, but do I really want to plug one into my High Wattage Pro Audio equipment ? I am wondering what AC Cable came w/ your GK 1001RB-II, or if anyone knows what replacement cable to use ?

Thanks
