Here's my old A5, but I'll say that the Elixir strings on it didn't do the bass any real justice. I had some bronzes on it before and it had a much nicer sound; the sound that the series is known for, in fact. I'm pretty sure that someone'll post a *way* more indicative soundclip.

Ha! Sorry for the absence. I realized a couple years ago that I gassed less if I didn't spend as much time at TB... Since I had to save money for a wedding and moving and other stuff, I had little choice. :)

the local mom & pop store just got in a freeway 5 (used, a little nicked up/gigged but in perfectly playable condition) & I just picked it up & played it b/c I had never seen one before. I really liked it! thin thin thin neck. close string spacing (close for me...I'm used to my squier DAJV). i liked the feel a lot, tho. $390. not bad. if i was looking for another bass right now this might be it

My old BG-IV keeps on rolling, replaced the EMG's with Dark Star Pickups and a Noll two band preamp.

Have another BG-IV bass in black with EMG's that I use exclusively for folk/bluegrass. I dropped it on concrete, and besides the obvious dent in the bottom and paint chip, it was still in tune;)

I've been playing my A5 steadily since I last posted. I'll be playing it for a long time, I believe. I wish it had a contoured body like a Precision, and there are times when the string spacing feels a little narrow (mostly on faster stuff) but it's versatile (that double-edged word), handsome enough that non-musicians think it's pretty, and playable. Right now I'm using my natural ash/maple fingerboard P, for a gig tomorrow, but after that, it's back to Godin. I don't know of another bass to rival it for its particular niche.
