I'm currently unable to edit the original post, so I'll just have to keep reposting the list as the thread goes on.

I have a Godin Shifter 4 in Flame Sunburst. I'll post a pic once I get home from work (I assume a pic is required to get a number)

Edit: Ok, here is mine with the hang tags still on it last Christmas when Santa dropped it off under the tree.....

I really like these basses (especially in the Sunburst). If I was looking for a 4-string, at the moment, I'd be considering one of these...

Hello fellow Godin fans! I'm a newbie here on TB.
I'd like to join the club if you'll have me!
I own quite a few Godins and I'm also an endorsing artist.
My current crop includes:
A5 SA Fretless
Freeway 5 leaftop fretless (one of a kind)
Freeway 5 blue sparkle (one of a kind prototype)
SD5
Shifter 4 burst with maple neck
Shifter 5 burst with maple neck (just got it yesterday)
I also have a few of those smaller 6 string thingies

Soon as I figure out how to post a picture (I'm reading the faq's)
I'll put up some shots.

Welcome, Jay.
Looks like you have some great basses there!
Would love to hear some clips.
I had an SD-4 that sounded phenomenal strung with Thomastik-Infeld Jazz Flats.
Curious, do the Freeways sound much different than the SD?

Hey Jay! That is very impressive!! Congrats on the endorsement deal! They are a great company to be endorsed by!

My SD5 is strung with Thomastik flats.
All my basses have slight tone variations but I think it may be due to weight. My SD5 is quite heavy compared to my Leaftop.
My leaftop is a little brighter , my blue sparkle very balanced and the SD5 more boomy. (this is when they all had the same round wounds on them)

I'll post a link to some clips soon. I'm still finding my way around here.

Welcome, Ryno! Glad you're loving your Godin!

Hello everyone. I am new here and to the bass. I've been a music fan all my life and play drums, djembe & the dumbek. I bought an old bass at a garage sale. Started teaching myself a little and fell in love with the instrument. When I went in to a small shop that carries only non-commercial brands I found a Godin Ultra-Accoustic and fell in love with the neck. I obsessed and read about them, tried various different bass' in stores and even bought a Schecter Stiletto Elite but I ended up returning it and getting a Godin Shifter 4. I love the neck and feel of teh guitar and the Vintage Burst is beautiful. I am still new but it makes learning a lot more fun. I hope to join your club and learn more about your experiences with the bass and Godin.

I know what you mean, man. Godin's necks are simply supurb. I remember I picked my Freeway 5 up, I wasn't even looking for a 5 string, and thinking, "bugger me, how can anything even be this comfortable?"

Here are some rather poor photos of mine.

I have a 1999 Godin A4 which I bought used a couple of years ago. Was using acoustic-electric basses (Epiphone El Capitans...which I sold... and a Michael Kelly Club Deluxe) for country-bluegrass gospel gigs but had to deal with feedback and uneven piezo pickup problems at moderate volumes. Got the Godin and those problem mostly disappeared; just loaded it up with LaBella 760 nylon tapewounds, set the controls, and I got a good pseudo-upright sound. Can also get a pretty good vintage P-bass tone by just moving the controls a little. Good bass for the bucks.

The neck on my Godin is probably the top reason I love the bass. There are other reasons, but that's probably the biggest one for me. :)

To all those Godin fans I am still loving my Shifter. I started with a new teacher I met at the Bass Live expo here in Los Angeles. He's well connected, a studio musician and played with everyone from Tom Jones to Radiohead. He really liked my Shifter and complimented the neck, the feel and especially the tone and rich sounds.

Anyway, a problem I've had and noticed in other postings about the Godin is buzzing from the E string. The teacher made one suggestion and it stopped. He told me to play/pluck the strings farther away from the fret board and viola it worked. Not only that but it gave me better and more even tones. FYI from an amateur bass lover.
