Aside from the ridiculous premise, the worst thing about this movie is that the song that the title is based on comes from a band without a bass player. That's something we all can agree is offensive. Kumbaya.

The infamous quote by Nietzsche that "God is dead" is nearly universally taken out of context these days.
Nietzsche wasn't an atheist, but a rather devout Christian. He was lamenting that God is dead in the hearts and minds of his countrymen.

o sorry this is about redbox not about God anyway redbox's release window has a jump on other home entertainment release dates--about a week or two revenue stream is still greatest at box office but studios took a major hit by dvd's & aren't exactly compensating by streaming or through-video online rental is prob best deal if you like to watch at home (see: itunes rentals) in the company of others for convenience & price
Erm.... no. Nietzsche was no Christian, in any sense of the word. It's true that what he really meant by the phrase was that belief in God had faded and become irrelevant in society, but he wasn't lamenting it. He was saying that society was going to have to rethink its values in a post-religious world.
Haven't seen the movie in question, have definitely seen some awful ones - religiously preachy and non-religiously so. It's rather embarrassing to have someone in church lend you a DVD and say "oh, THIS one is different, it's so good," and it's... not. The only one I can think of off hand that actually succeeded was probably Chariots of Fire, and that was a long time ago.
On the depiction of academics: actually, it can happen. My wife had a writing teacher who was into shamanism, and when he found out she was a christian, singled her out. She had only just recently become a believer, was about 18 or 19 years old, and was constantly put on the spot as the class' token Christian to justify or defend anything and everything about the religion, and treated with contempt when she wasn't prepared to out-debate a 50-year-old PhD. Most academics are wise enough not to indulge in that kind of bullying, but you do get one every once in a while.

If I was taking out student loans to pay for that class I'd be pretty upset at the class time being wasted on 2 people's personal agendas at the expense of 60-70 other paying students.

What? Ignore historical and current fact much? Didn't the Romans place Christians (and others) in the colosseum to face the lions as a means of entertainment? Also I think Christians in regions overtaken by ISIS might have a different perspective.
In the US, I think we are at a point where we tend to push our ideologies or lack of one on others and we feel entitled to not have to listen or see any dissenting opinions. Many many crap films are released each year on all types of subjects.
I didn't realize the movie is about getting eaten by lions and being beheaded by jihadists. That sounds much more exciting that the trailer suggests. It's odd, they usually put the exciting bits in the trailer, wonder why they didn't this time.

I removed it when someone else politely reminded me of the rules and suggested I remove it without questioning my sense of social responsibility.
Personally, I find the movie as it is more offensive than any profane language.

I think that Amazing Grace is a good movie. It is about William Wilberforce and his struggle to end slavery in the British Empire. No popular theme song and no Kevin Sorbo but it does have Albert Finney playing John Newton.
Is Kevin Sorbo more of a star than Dean Cain? Personally, I liked "Lois and Clark" a lot better than "Hercules".
That tends to be the case with most (not all) "agenda" movies, regardless of the subject. They don't sway anyone who doesn't already hold that opinion.
EDIT: and most of the time they tend to be bad. There are a few movies on various topics that I 100% agree with, but the movies regarding those topics were garbage.
