I sure was surprised to see this yesterday in downtown Philly! I don't recall ever seeing this model of Alfa before, and it appears to be a Giulietta SZ "Conda Tonda," which I believe means it's late 1950s or early 1060s. Regardless...wow. Very cool.

A friend of mine had the Plymouth version (Trail Duster) of that with 6" of lift and 35's.

Along with a couple of friends, my wife and I are walking around the perimeter of the City of Philadelphia. Someone has mapped out the walk, and broken it into 12 segments designed to be completed over a year, with one walk per month. We're behind schedule but finally did our sixth segment today, which took us through part of Northeast Philadelphia and ended in a gorgeous spot on the Delaware River. Along the way, we saw these:

No, I think the boat tail Rivieras were early-mid 70s. too bad about the hideous wheels, though.

I think you're right about the vintage. I remember this because one of my parents' friends got a new boat-tail Riviera every year in the early 1970s.

I also question the choice of wheels, as well as the low profile tires, which must produce a brutal ride in many parts of Philly. And yet I see lots of older cars like this with similar tires, sometimes even lower profile than these, and sometimes on monstrous SUVs too. I realize it's all about the profiling--which has its place to be sure--but it has to be uncomfortable.
