Is the truck that was a Datsun 720 still called that when Nissan took over?

Last week I was at the national conference of Datsun/Nissan Z-car owners.

MANY cool cars there...the brown & gold one is mine, a 1983...next to it, the red and black one is one of 500, a 10th anniversary model with 15 miles on it and the original tires.

My wife has a 2016 370Z and is patiently waiting for the new one to be released. She's probably going to trade hers in towards it when available. I love the blue, but I'm curious to see what other colors they offer.

Oh, the 720 was a TRUCK! I had never heard of that model, not being involved with compact pickups. It's easy to Google.

They changed the name to Nissan as they did with other vehicles.

My neighbor about 100 yards down the street has a green Morgan in his 2nd garage. The folks on the other side of my block have a very clean two-tone '65 Chevy 2-door in their garage.

Tomorrow I'm taking a drive to a historic restaurant, the Mishawaka, which is in the upper Poudre Canyon near here. We'll have lunch. I'm riding in a friend's 1926 Chevy with the top down:

Well, I did the run up to the Mishawaka restaurant, but instead of the older Chevy, we used a 4-door 1956 Chevy 210 with the original 265 V8.

THAT is a '53 Chevy. Note the flat rear finders. Might be a '54. I'm not sure what was different.

So Anyway, even if I didn't need to go anywhere, I'd hire that taxi just to drive me around in an old Chevy for a while. Those things are like limos in the rear.
I'd also like to go to Cuba someday, just to hear the music.

There was no "taking over". Nissan Motor Company was always the manufacturer. For some reason they chose the brand name "Datsun" to sell in the US; then after some years (I think the early 80s) they decided to revert to the "Nissan" branding they used everywhere else. The cars and trucks remained exactly the same, made in the same factories by the same people.

Just seeing an Allante is unusual enough.

I had a Buick Reatta in the shop last week, which I believe was built on the same platform as the Allante. Probably the first of either that I've seen in 20+ years.
