I'm running a Boss ODB-3 on a mild setting and very satisfied with the amount of low end that is preserved. It's got a 2-band eq (essentially a bass boost/treble cut the way I use it), a balance for how much of the signal is od and another knob for how much gain you want. It doesn't add any noise when it's off and you can find them for around $60 I think.
Right now I'm running it as such:
Bass --> Boss NS-2 --> BassBalls --> Boss ODB-3 --> Boss LMB-3 --> (back to) NS-2 --> Amp
wat about the electro harmonix big muff?
i love that and i am going to buy one very soon after i sell my Boss GT-6B
