Good Cheap Envelope filter

Edit: I've just ordered an MXR Bass Auto Q. That's how well the Bassballs doesn't fill the envelope filter role.

I hate to burst your bubble kevteop, but the Auto Q isn't an envelope filter, it's a sweeping filter driven by an LFO.

Is envelope filter mode on BSW really that bad? Never tried it myself.

No - I use mine quite a bit. In fact, I also have an EBS Bass IQ on my board, which is a comparatively subtle (maybe too subtle?) filter and, when I want something more in-your-face, I use the BSW. In all honesty, it's probably the pedal I use most on my board.

Sorry, guess I blew it. The nano Dr Q is a waste of time, I think. Tried to like it, but it's way too subtle. I forget what I paid for the nano Bassballs, guess it must've been more? My bad.

Oh for crying out loud... My girlfriend's already giving me dirty looks for the amount I've spent on my pedalboard this month (she really didn't appreciate the bypass loop pedals, when I explained they were so I didn't have to hear the other pedals...), and now you're telling me I need a Q-Tron+ too?

I'll tell her it's your fault.

I'm kinda liking the envelope filter on the Ibanez SB7 synthesizer bass. You can find them pretty cheap on eBay.

I too am looking for a nice envelope filter. Ive been leaning towards a Q-tron + but there is a few different versions. Im not sure which one is right for me or if there is any difference other than knob placements and colors. I like the look of the newest edition black one with all the knobs up top, but the other one with knobs on the side is cheaper on ebay.

Has anyone tried both?

Hey man, leave me out of this. You should return the Auto Q and get two old, used DOD FX25s for the same price. Though, the Q-tron+ does look pretty sweet... Hey, what if you get the Q-tron+ and put the Auto Q in its effects loop?

+100 to the DOD FX25's IMO they are the most funky, most musical filters out there and I have tried a few. I use mine a lot for the type of effect it is. As a matter of fact, if I had room on the pedal board I would put another one on there so I could tweak it differently than the other one. The output is very different between my 2 basses and it is the first effect in the chain.

Anyone else experimenting with percussive ghost notes throught the filter? Very roto-tom like.

I once bought a bass-playing girlfriend an FX25 for her birthday, ten years or so ago. I never really liked it.

I think it causes the planet's magnetic poles to flip and all life on earth is destroyed.

Meh... The 'Tron+ loop does sound appealing, but I'm sure after a week with it I'd get sick of rewiring my pedal board every five minutes to try a different combination in there and start wishing I'd just bought a cheaper filter. It would be nice to trial one for a while though, see what it can do.
