Good heads for the Aggie GS412.

I blew my crown xti 1000 last weekend and am going head shopping now. I'm tired of lugging around this rack system so I started looking for heads that might sound good with this cab. I play loud rock music with two marshall half stacks surrounding me. I've been looking at the new collections of d class heads cuz they're small and lightweight, but I'm open to anything. So for you guys with big as cabs what sounds good with 412? Btw, I like smooth bass that covers and fills the band sound holes. I don't need to cut through so much but do like the power and headroom.

Fwiw, the heads ive checkedout so far are the Mesa D800, the Peavey Minimega, the GK fusion 800 and the Genz Benz Shuttle 9.0. This thread is for opinions on those and for heads I've haven't looked into yet. Trying to stay in the $600 area code.

Of all my flip regrets it is the GS412! Man I miss that cab !! I ran the GK MBF800 and it with the GS was a perfect match for the power trio band I was in at the time, Even tonal balance with great punch and headroom and was awesome with a little dirt for the Dusty ZZ sound. It was only used for large rooms and outdoors but holyfrijoles did that rig RAWK!

It's a shame they stopped making the AG500 as it would be the obvious choice for a GS. I have the AG500SC with a GS212 stack and it's a perfect match. Maybe look for a used one?

If it was me I would be lugging around an aguilar db 750/751 that way I could knock down walls with my rig. Unfortunately that head is a sob to move around so for lighter weight options the mesa d800 gets much love these days along with the new genzler amps. Really any head is going to be loud enough with a cabinet like that as long as you like the mid scoop tone of the gs series which you already mentioned you do.

Perhaps a high powered carvin micro and a tone pedal or two to go along with it?
