Can you recommend me few songs that are appropiate for kids , 7 and 5 years old, my kids really like: Shake-The Gap, Sir Duke, Drive my car. They dont mind all the R&B, Jazz we have but they dont enjoy metal at all, neither my wife does. I would like to add more kids friendly songs to our family ipod, the last thing I want to do is buy Hanna Montana, Justin Bieber stuff.

Dan Zanes, Laurie Berkner, Dirty Sock Funtime Band.
If you go to Noggin.com and click on Jack's Big Music Show, there are tons of music videos by these and other artists who make kid AND family-friendly music.

Really depends on the kids. When my daughter was young, she loved Seal, Sting, Barenaked Ladies, Irish traditional music (because I used to be in a band that played a lot of it), Los Lobos, and the Kronos Quartet's Pieces of Africa album. OTOH, her younger brother loves old Who records and jazz. Her little sister is a Bieber freak. Who knows why they like the things they like?

So just try a bunch of stuff and see what rings their little bells. For starters, you might try Los Lobos's children's album, Papa's Dream. My daughter adored that record.

Kids Place Live on XM/Sirius plays commercial free kids music 24/7. This site lists a bunch of the songs and artists:

KiDS Place LiVE Fans

Mine dig Secret Agent 23 Skidoo, The Princess Who Saved Herself, I've Got a Butt and a bunch more. I like it too. They also play old 50's tunes and yesterday they played of remake of Lovely Day and then played Bill Wither's original.

When my kids were little they listened to the same songs I listened to - Beatles, Hendrix, Beach Boys, Cream, pretty much all the classic rock standards. They loved it! My daughter loved The Beach Boys, and my two boys' favorite song was Tin Lizzie's Boys Are Back In Town!

Yeah, it's great. I took my older daughter out of school to see a noon Los Lobos gig in Philly when she was in first grade -- not bad for her first show! There are a couple of other great discs in that series.

She also loved The Beatles. You can't go wrong there.

For specific tracks, I think Prince's "Starfish and Coffee" from Sign 'o The Times is a wonderful childrens' song.
