Good slap bass

Chuck Rainey sure played some tasty classic slap lines on a P with flats, Peg, for example...:bassist:
Indeed he did, in spite of being told not to slap. He hid his right hand with a music stand. True story. This is a picture of me, Chuck and Mark Dronge (DR Strings). We had just finished a wonderful dinner together where Chuck told me that story.

Melvin Davis uses active Duncan pickups (the ones with 3 switches !). Those had an amazing slap tone …
Spectors are usually great for slapping (I prefer a gloss finish over an oil finish !).
Sadowsky is great (the early ones made with EMG’s were fantastic for slap).
Elricks euro jazz basses are amazing too!
Mtd and some Warwicks also sound great .
And of course alembic series 2, Fbasses and Status also work great .
I have played almost everything out there and these are the best ones in my opinion . The Glockenklang 3 band preamp is also great for this …
