Anything with John Wetton, Jack Bruce or Chris Squire
The obvious here would be Les Claypool (Primus), Geddy Lee (Rush) and Sting (The Police, etc.)....
I've always been a big fan of Jack Bruce, but if you listen close to what he's doing in those two examples it isn't as hard as it sounds. Both bass lines are similar in the fact they both repeat themselves. Plus both vocals do the same thing simple repeat even though the second tune, Look Out Princess, jumps around to different keys it's always the same vocal and bass line. Listen to Jack do his tune Never Tell Your Mother She's Out of Tune.
What's great about this Asia clip is Wetton's up there singing about fighting for England and it sounds like people in the back ground are ordering drinks.

How about Mark King from Level 42? They don't have a hard rock rep, but this guy's got incredible slap skills and great vocals to boot.
