They need too. Or at least a squier version. This pete wentz bidness is crazy, even though it's a nice playing bass 
A '78 P bass with "no fret wear and high action?" That sounds like possible major trouble to me.

I was just sayin. It looked pretty legit to me. The saddles were high. I swear, I don't see why me thinking that is such a bad thing. I'd fosho get someone (pro) to take a look at it before I would bite the bullet, after getting the cash that is.
Generally a bass that's over 30 years old should have some pretty decent wear. There's always the possibility it's been refretted as well. If you are serious about wanting to get it, do definitely have someone check out the neck beforehand because you could have something going on that's not obvious.
I see where you're coming from Tommy. All I can tell you is I've tried to lower action on basses like that, found the truss-rod situation inop and couldn't have gotten the action low enough without using a roofing shingle as a neck shim(which this 78 may already have in it).
I think what these guys are saying is, when the action is really high on a bass like that, it's usually not because the previous owner liked really high action, and it's hard to tell what's going on until you start making adjustments.
Yeah. I found this lil mini stack acoustic cab that I like better than any eden amp so that gives me more money to buy this bass.
I really want it, it being legit, in perfect condition, and all original is another story.
And as I said before, if the neck is ok how it is, I don't mind the high action... even with high action it plays smoother and most basses I've played.
