Got my Roger Waters on today...

While I was at GC today I got the chance to play a 1978 black on black pbass with maple, with flats. All I have to say is magic. Never played a bass that sounded that good acoustically (didn't get the chance to plug it in). The neck was perfect and the action was high but it didn't really matter, the bass played like butta. One thing struck me as odd, there was a little place of darker wood that looked like a truss rod "cave" but there was no hole, just dark wood, like the geddy lee jazz. Any info on that?

As soon as I can find my phone charger I'll email the pics to my photobucket and share.

5string, I played that skure tbird thing... it sucked. High action, no sustain, worst finish on a neck (felt like sand paper), and the fingerboard was stained with dirt.

Needless to say, I'm a jealous man.

You youngster calling 1978 vintage; ha
That would be with a 3 bolt neck mount??

BTW, IMO/IME a $4K mid to late 60's P is 4 times the bass assuming you can get that much cash together at the same time

Why? It was the bridge, saddles were high... neck was straight.

They are almost 40yrs old. I'd call that vintage. Yeah

It has minimal wear, neck has no wear... but the fretboard had some black dots on it (not the inlays lol)

But this is the second old pbass I've played. First was a 197? natural pbass with a badass bridge (not the badassII, the regular badass). With a bridge cover. I have a pic of that one too, they both were the same except the color. And the natural one's pups and hardware was less rusty but, rust= character
