This was really good thanks for sharing - we have a new contemporary blues band in the uk that we are just finishing recruiting for and will be looking to make an album in the next year. So all this info on the whole thread has been really helpful.

Few weeks ago, I recorded demos for a label (you can find the whole story here). The label decide to sign us, but I don't know how much I should get from the deal. They offered 30% from the profit of digital selling (YouTube, Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music, etc) and 50-70% from live performance. I'm new at this industry, playing bass since 2014 as a hobby and getting serious since last year, never in this situation before. So, what do you guys think about the offer?

We were offered a contract once, we were excited... until we realised the manager/label were going to get a substantial cut from every live performance including a large list that we had already secured without them (we had an existing relationship with many promoters) and there was no clarity whatsover as to just how many gigs we'd get through them...
A lot of sharks out there trying to take advantage of musicians offering little more than dreams. Beware. It may be a good thing you've got there, but be very careful before you sign anything.
