Grace VanderWaal-Did you catch her?

They are looking for somebody who can sell tickets for a show.
They're looking for TV ratings
And sales. If its anything like Idol you have to sell your soul to accept the prize. A friend of mine made it through first auditions with AI but would have had to forfeit all of her current catalog she co-wrote with her gigging band and was not allowed to make any public appearance (including gigging) while going through the rest of the show.

If those were all of the finalists, that show is rigged. The little girl was BY FAR the WORST of that bunch.
I do not agree at all. Her singing is unconventional so that may be a turn off for some but she has style...also she wrote the song she performed. The others all performed either over-rehearsed and/or over-dramatic covers plainly exhibiting less raw talent than the young budding star.

As far as music acts go on the show, these were in the finals.

I just re-listened to the Man in the Mirror cover...this is an awful abomination of the song, a terrible arrangement. This is easily the worst of the bunch by a long shot. His pitch is awful and if he had anything to do with the re-work of the song then he should be flogged.

Generic pop slop, all of it.

She is astounding. Her voice is imperfect in all the right ways. She emotes in ways that aren't necessarily in the words she's singing. She's 12.

The best parallel I can come up with is Peter Gabriel, who also has a crappy voice.

She should give the vegas show to one of the other acts, take the million and be on her way to writing and recording some amazing music.
This sounds like the perfect solution!

Grace does have natural breaks in her voice, but again, last night sounded like she needed some vocal rest, even when she introduced Stevie Nicks. As far as Grace being the best choice to headline in Vegas...maybe not, but I have no problem with her winning the show. By the time you get to the top 10, it's pretty much apples and oranges, so at that point, I'm looking to see who's going to be the mango of the bunch. If Grace truly wrote those songs, and did those arrangements herself, then she's the "mango," IMO.

I don't really care if she's 12 or 38. I loved her first song. I liked her second song. It's never really been okay for me since. Songs kinda runnin' together and all sounding the same. One noted vocal delivery and it sounds like her voice is already blown. I liked her best for being vulnerable and authentic, now the machine has got her and as evidenced by the tarted-up version and performance of her first song for the finale, they're choking what was good out of her already.

Howie told it to her best on one of the broadcasts. He told her the biggest part of her success rides on her ability to remain who she is now. If she tries to or allows herself to become someone else, the charm is gone and so shall she fall from the spotlight. I believe that's true. It's not just her voice, or just her songs, or just anything else. It's the sum of the parts that is exponentially greater that the parts themselves. I wish her well. FWIW - I voted for Sofie the contortionist. She worked hard to always bring something newer and better to the game. She also has the same beyond-her-years stage presence Grace has. Her performances were really great. I hope she continues outside the AGT arena.

She's the next Sia and let us not forget she's just twelve with no formal training and she's already writing some pretty good little songs. I still don't understand the Las Vegas connection for the minor winners? I hope Simon grabs her up and gets this girl in the studio. I will be honest I thought last night was her worst performance but I'll give NBC partial blame for pushing her performance until the end to keep people watching she even commented she was glad it eas over. The young opera singer is phenomenal I bet Disney snaps her up.

She was amazing, every time and I knew she would win.
If she didn't sound amazing to you then you just don't get it, which is completely understandable.

I get her unique style... and at just 12 years old it's amazing she has any style at all.
Thing is I do get it. She;s doing a very commercial style that gets played every time I walk into a store or watch a TV commercial. It was very bland, corporate music to me.
