Grandpa's in the hospital.

Prayers for your family, and comfort for your grief.

There's an old American Indian saying about how life should be.

When you enter this world, you should cry and the world rejoice.
When you leave this world, you should rejoice and the world cry.

Thank you all.

It's hard right now, but unfortunately more of a relief than anything. He wasn't alive enough after having the breathing tube removed to be in pain, but his state of being was not a good one. Prolly the hardest part of the entire ordeal was seeing him in the icu hooked up to all those machines. It's not the grandpa I remember, and the sight of it nearly broke me. But my mom would have as well, and she didn't need that. She's doing much better now, and so is my grandma. There's not going to be a funeral, but just a mass. Grandpa didn't want one.

It's hard, but time and good memories will heal. He led a long and eventful good life, and the thing that I will miss the most is his stories. He lived in so many different countries, and his childhood of growing up in a house with 10 kids (five from one family, five from the other) make for thousands of interesting wonderful stories.

Bummer deal. Grandpas are always so cool, and it totally sucks when we lose one. I have no living grandparents and it makes me sad when I think about it.

Do you have any photos or items of his you can keep around for the good memories? I have a knife my grandpa used when he was in the Korean War.
