Graphic EQ advantages

Have any of you guys put a separate graphic EQ in your rig? I own a Rane graphic EQ and I was wondering if I could use the graphic EQ to help with tone.

What are some things that a graphic EQ could help in a bass rig?

a graphic eq would help shape your sound. cut and boost highs, mids, and lows.

i threw a 30 band in a guitar rig once. i liked the control. though ive been told that graphic EQ's introduce weird phase problems. maybe its worse with bass frequencies?
