Great Female Bassists??

L-dia ( Link Removed )

Check out her youtube vids also.

Oh, I'm a big fan of Annie Holland (Elastica) also. She had a killer tone on those albums.

+1 for Lydia. Wow, her groove was so deep. Right up there with Me'shell. Yeah, all these names are good ones. Rhonda is ridiculous; same for Tracy Wormwood. I think Me'shell has been the most influential on my end. I'm ALWAYS inspired by her playing and musicality. If I could only REALLY play like that, I'd really happy.

+10 for Lydia! I saw her live earlier this year and was so blown away by her groove and her great singing!

I've also had the good fortune to meet and talk with Carol Kaye a few times - WOW! She can still whip off every bass line she has played over the ages!

Gail Ann Dorsey - great vocals also.
Check out her singing "Under Pressure" with David Bowie while holding down the groove.

Gail was the first woman I thought of....Also Janice Tanaka comes to mind...

There are a lot of great female bassists...one I don't think I read here was Amy Humphrey from the two piece band Clatter. Speaking of Amy's, Aimee Man comes to mind!
