Canada has produced some great bassists. I was wondering what are your favorites. Mine are.... Geddy Lee - Amazing Gord Sinclair of The Tragically Hip. Some tasty lines and grooves from this guy.
Alain Caron, formerly of UZEB. My favourite fusion bassist. His solo stuff is also really awesome, especially for those who are also into soundscapey/ambient stuff.
Prepare to be amazed. Alain is one of the greats for sure. Check out some samples on his website www.alaincaron.com
I saw a live concert of a Brian Adams playing a Precision while he was singing, and he wasn´t bad at all. At least, I can´t do that. My votes for Geddy and Alain Caron
Candain? Fergus Marsh did some really impressive work with Bruce Cockburn in the 80s on the bass and stick.
Here's a few from the wet coast, off the top of my head: Chris Nelson Gary Karr (lives in Victoria now) Rene Worst Don Thompson (originally from Powell River) Torben Oxbol Russ Botten (and many more I've neglected)
Orin Isaacs He played bass in "The Open Mike Band" on "Open Mike with Mike Bullard". Google him. He is an excellent 6-string player!
Oh, and any NYC bassists be on the lookout for a new DB'er in town named Zack Lober. The guy's a monster.
