Hello,

I'm 27 and I've just started playing bass. My friend asked me to play in his band.

I have played a little bit of guitar before but only alone in my room.

That's about it I guess. I'm getting some online lessons on how to play with a drummer. Also I'm learning some songs. I might even like it better than guitar. I guess time will tell.

Welcome. Acoustic rhythm guitar to bass is a short learning curve. Do what you did on rhythm guitar, but, this time we play the notes of the chord one note at a time to the beat of the song.

Cmaj7. Start with just the root to the beat, i.e. lot of C's. The 5th or G note is begging to be in the bass line, add it. The 8 or C in the next octave is a very safe addition. R-5-8-5 will play a lot of bass. If the next chord is the Fmaj7 that same R-5-8-5 pattern, but this time it's F-C-octave F-C.
